I heard about the Escalate conference last week – as much as I wanted to be there in person, it wasn’t meant to be. Dane Sanders had other ideas – he made it possible for anyone to attend the conference for free via ustream. If that wasn’t the most brilliant thing I had ever heard!
To say that this conference was thought provoking was an understatement. It spun me upsidedown, sideways, and totally altered my perceptions not only of the business of photography in general, but how I thought of my own business.
This was the incredible lineup:
If I had to pick one session that really made me go “WHOA” – it would have to be Jerry. He laid out a way to approach ANY session or subject and to use the light in such a unique way that even the LIGHT didn’t even know it could be so good. But honestly, I learned something from each speaker, and I have the 20 pages of notes to prove it!
Thank you so much Dane for allowing those of us who couldn’t attend Escalate to be able to participate. One of the best parts was all the networking going on on ustream with those of us in the chat room – I wager there will be quite a few working relationships built from that room – I know I made a few friends in there!
Yes, I know it’s not morning any longer - I blame the copious amounts of Nyquil I have been consuming this weekend. Did you know if you chill Nyquil it goes down much better?
So…it’s my intention to feature a fabulous female phototographer every week – (nice alliteration, huh?). This week came upon me all of a sudden, so I decided to stick close to home. Jen Johnson has been everything from client to mentor to friend, and she continues to inspire me by taking gorgeous pictures and is the personification of “go for it”. She is fearless!
